You may desire business coaching if you are having difficulty dealing with people. You may feel you need more confidence, clarity or conviction. Business coaching helps you to deal with all of these challenges from a different perspective. Adopting a new perspective helps you to see opportunities where you once saw difficulty. Finally, with effective business coaching you can get beyond the beliefs you hold consciously or not that limit you from being your best.

To do this a business coach must be sure they understand what challenges you are facing and how you perceive these challenges. In other words business coaching works best when solutions are designed based on where you are falling short of your own expectations and what you would consider the ideal situation.

How do you know if you are getting value for the money you are paying for business coaching? You need clarity about what you absolutely must get from your business coaching sessions. Decide before meeting with your coach how you will evaluate the value you receive and make sure to put this in writing. Ask your business coach to clearly put in writing what deliverables he can guarantee and in what time frame. Ask him what will happen if the deliverables are not produced as promised. If he hesitates go the next coach on your shopping list.
Business Coaching Relationship
How important is relationship when you decide to pay for business coaching? Ideally you want to hire only those business coaches who resonate with you when you first meet or talk to them. Listen to your gut feelings. Is this a business coach you can relate to? Does he have the confidence, conviction, experience and track record that you can feel good about? Are you comfortable talking with him during the interview? Does he establish good rapport with you quickly? If you have any doubts do not make a final decision. Interview other business coaches and rate each one on a scale of 1-10

The whole idea of engaging someone to do business coaching is to get the ideal results you want and could not have got by yourself. If you are not several steps closer to living your vision after business coaching, then you may have set your sights too low. You are in the drivers’ seat when it comes to determining in advance the deliverables you are paying for. At any time during the mandate if you do not have a good feeling in your gut, stop the process and interview your business coach to determine if you will continue. The bottom line with business coaching is that you are the bottom line!
